Mitchell Zuckoff is the author of six previous nonfiction books, including the New York Times bestsellers Lost in Shangri-La and Frozen in Time, and a professor of journalism at Boston University.
The Annex Security Team consists of the five surviving CIA contract operators who responded to the September 11, 2012, attack in Benghazi.

13 hours of hell on earth!

I loved the background of Benghazi's history in the beginning and how it transitioned to the events of 2012. The fast paced, down to earth account given by the survivors made me swell with pride that there are good guys out there, willing to take on evil to protect others and what we should all hold dear. I would recommend this book to anyone who is on the fence about what happened that horrible day and hope they would see how everything they see in 1 minute sound bytes is not always the whole story.

13 Hours - a compelling read

A riveting account of what happened during the "battle of Benghazi". The book is hard to put down. It is the account of what happened during the attack on our diplomatic outpost and CIA annex by the heroic defenders of the compounds. The book describes what the State Department's security team experienced during the attack. The book contains little of the political back and forth just the facts of what happened during the attack. The book reads like a great thriller novel. The story shows heroes still exist in this world of ambivalence.

A Must Read for all Truth Seeking Americans!!!

"13 Hours: The Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi" by Mitchell Zuckoff, is a book that tells the story of bravery, heroism, dedication and commitment by a small group of men, whose only goal is to protect American lives. Because, these Americans have had their requests for protection ignored by our government, and when the attack started, the CIA Team Leader, Bob, was more interested in protecting the secret 'presence' of the Clandestine Organization, than he was in allowing the Security Detail to move the Ambassador and Sean Smith from the Compound! Thus, these people were trapped, and the end result is that these two Americans died.
This detailed account of the battles that were fought is riveting. It's something that took me through the emotional spectrum of gratitude to anger to tears. I am so grateful for the Warriors who stood up to protect our fellow Americans...to fight for them...and yes, to even die for them. I will never forget Glen Doherty...and the fact that he said, "I'll go"...because that is who Glen was. And I will never forget Ty 'Rone' Woods, because, due to my immense respect for him, I wear his Memorial Bracelet. I believe that all who fought, that this group of men from both Benghazi and Tripoli, are heroes of the highest order. And this book allows the reader to see that.
Imho, the government and our military turned their backs on Americans in Benghazi, and Four Americans died as a result of their inaction!!!
Free from political and main-stream media b.s....it's worth reading...more than once!!!
